A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikoyi has ordered the remand of popular media personality Scott Iguma following his public accusations against real estate company, PWAN.
Iguma was reportedly arrested on Wednesday and held at Panti Police Station after alleging on social media that PWAN had defrauded multiple customers by selling receipts instead of land.
In a video shared Thursday on Instagram, Nigerian singer Kokopee confirmed that Iguma was remanded in custody until Monday. “Scott has been remanded for fighting for people,” Kokopee said. “You may not agree with how he did it, but did he commit a crime? Did he kill anyone?”
Kokopee also questioned the basis of the remand, saying, “In Lagos, I thought defamation is not a crime?”
Earlier in the week, Iguma published a series of Instagram posts accusing PWAN of widespread fraud. He claimed to have submitted 130 petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on behalf of alleged victims, with more cases pending.
“Day after day, more victims are coming forward with stories of how they’ve been defrauded,” Iguma wrote, adding that some of those affected have yet to file official complaints.
He further alleged that the company’s owner had enlisted high-ranking police officers to intimidate victims attempting to speak out.
As of now, PWAN has not issued an official response to the allegations, and the legal process remains ongoing.
Iguma is expected to remain in custody until Monday, pending further court proceedings.
