Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified operations across several parts of the country, arresting 16 suspected informants and logistics suppliers, rescuing 12 civilians, and recovering arms and other materials linked to terrorist and criminal networks within the last 24 hours. 🇳🇬
In Borno State, troops of the 192 Battalion ambushed suspected ISWAP/JAS fighters near Kuranabassa village in Gwoza Local Government Area, forcing them to retreat toward the Mandara Mountains. Security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and other items after the encounter.
Elsewhere in the North-East, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, intercepted three vehicles along the Yunusari–Bukarti–Kala/Gamari axis suspected to be transporting supplies to insurgents. Five suspects were arrested, while recovered items included solar panels, water pumping machines, construction materials, mobile phones and cash.
In Kogi State, troops of 12 Brigade intercepted another vehicle along the Obajana–Kabba Road and arrested two suspects. Security personnel recovered 314 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and three AK-47 magazines during the operation.
Troops of 17 Brigade also carried out clearance operations in Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas of Katsina State, destroying several identified criminal hideouts and support structures to disrupt activities of armed groups in the area.
In Plateau State, troops under Operation Enduring Peace responded to distress calls and rescued 12 civilians reportedly trapped by armed elements. The injured victims were evacuated for medical treatment.
Operations extended to the South-South region, where troops recovered about 3,250 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products along Refinery Road in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State. Meanwhile, in Taraba State, troops of 114 Battalion arrested nine suspected informants and dismantled identified coordination hideouts linked to criminal activity.
The army said the operations reflect ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and safeguard communities nationwide, while urging the public to continue providing credible information to support security agencies’ operations.
