Troops Arrest Notorious Gunrunners, Recover 1,200 Rounds of Ammunition in Kaduna

Operatives of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected gunrunners and recovered over 1,200 rounds of live ammunition during a joint security operation in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation ENDURING PEACE, the suspects — identified as 40-year-old Abdullahi Balarabe and his 18-year-old wife, Shafaatu Abdullahi — were intercepted at a snap checkpoint following actionable intelligence from an agency in Plateau State.

Troops from Operation ENDURING PEACE and Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA reportedly recovered 1,207 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, believed to be destined for insurgent groups in the North West.

Major General Folusho Oyinlola, Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, commended the troops for their vigilance and emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing among security agencies. He assured citizens that the military remains committed to dismantling gunrunning networks and restoring lasting peace in the region.
