Troops Rescue 12 Kidnap Victims in Plateau–Taraba Forest Operation

Date:

Troops conducting security operations in forest communities between Plateau State and Taraba State have rescued 12 kidnapped victims during a patrol mission in the area.

The development was disclosed on Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared via X.

According to the report, the rescue occurred in the early hours of April 15, 2026, when troops from a Combat Support Infantry Battalion were conducting a fighting patrol across the Dajin Madam and Kumbodoro forest corridors—areas believed to be used as hideouts by armed kidnappers.

During the operation, the soldiers encountered the victims, who reportedly escaped from their abductors and were navigating through the forest in search of safety before running into the patrol team.

Security sources said the rescued individuals were immediately taken into protective custody for identification procedures and preliminary medical and security checks.

Troops have since intensified surveillance in the affected forest belt, with ongoing efforts aimed at tracking down the suspected kidnappers and preventing further attacks across the Plateau–Taraba border axis.
