U.S. President Donald Trump said he is unsure about making it to heaven, even as he highlighted the positive impact he believes he has had on people’s lives.
Trump made the remarks during a White House interview aired Monday on Fox News, where he responded to questions from journalist Peter Doocy.
Doocy referred to a previous interview in which Trump said he hoped ending the war in Ukraine might help him “get into heaven.” He asked, “You talked a couple of weeks ago about hoping to end the war in Ukraine because it might help you get into heaven. How does this help?”
With a smile, Trump replied that he was uncertain about his chances of reaching heaven.
“I don’t think there’s anything going to get me in heaven, OK? I really don’t,” he said. “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make heaven.”
Trump added a lighter note, suggesting he might already be “in heaven right now” while traveling on Air Force One.
Despite his uncertainty, he emphasized the positive effects of his actions. “But I’ve made life a lot better for a lot of people,” Trump said.
