Vice Chancellor mourns late Abraham Adavi, UNILORIN Anthem’s composer

The composer of the University of Ilorin Anthem and retired permanent secretary with the Kogi State Civil Service, Elder Abraham Tolorunju Adavi, has died in Lokoja, Kogi State.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the deceased obtained his first degree; BA (Hons); Performing Arts, MA performing Arts and another masters degree in Industrial and Labour Relations, all from the University of Ilorin.
He was a member of many professional bodies, including the National Association of Nigerian Arts, Practitioners (NANTAP), Movie Practitioners of Nigeria and Artistic Director, Kogi State Arts and Culture before being appointed as permanent secretary in the Kogi State Civil Service.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, has described Elder Adavi’s demise as painful and regrettable.
In a condolence message signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Vice-Chancellor said that the late Mr. Adavi was an exceptional alumnus of the University whose contributions to the greatness of the institution would continue to be appreciated.
Prof. Abdulkareem said that the University was at pain that the composer of the highly stimulating and exciting UNILORIN Anthem was a dutiful professional who used his talents positively for the glory of the University.
He added that the quality of the captivating UNILORIN Anthem was reflective of the personality, professionalism and patriotism of the great alumnus, pointing out that generations of staff, students and other stakeholders of tge University would continue to benefit from his soul-inspiring composition.
Prof. Abdulkareem, who commiserated with the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Unilorite, said that the late thespian was a great professional who impacted greatly on humanity during his lifetime.
The Vice-Chancellor also condoled with members of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association on the death of one of its committed members, urging others to emulate his outstanding contributions.
Abdulkareem therefore prayed Almighty God to forgive the shortcomings of the late alumnus and grant his soul eternal rest, as he also wished his friends relations and colleagues the fortitude to bear his loss resulting from his demise.
