Nyesom Wike has criticised the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the party has failed to learn from its ongoing political crisis.
Wike made the remarks on Monday during his first monthly media briefing for 2026 in Abuja, where he also declared support for President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
He stated that his decision to back candidates who support the president is not tied to party affiliation but to alignment with policies he believes benefit governance.
“As it is today, my party seems to have not learned, and I am also going to support the President for a second term in office,” Wike said.
He explained that, as a serving minister, his party did not consult him on its choice of candidates and reiterated that his support would go to individuals who back the president, regardless of their political platform.
Wike added that his position should not be interpreted as working against any group but as backing political actors aligned with his stance on governance and leadership direction.
