Woman Dies Mysteriously While Eating at Boyfriend’s Residence in Abuja

Date:

A 27-year-old woman, identified as Esther Akwaji, has reportedly collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances while eating at her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on January 21 after Esther, who resides in Nasarawa State, travelled to Abuja to visit family members. She reportedly left her family home that day, saying she was heading to a bank in Dei-Dei, but did not return.

According to sources, hours later a man who identified himself as Esther’s boyfriend contacted her family using her mobile phone. He allegedly told them that Esther had visited him and that he had bought food for them to eat.

The man reportedly claimed that while they were eating, Esther suddenly began vomiting. He said he rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead on arrival by medical personnel.

Sources further alleged that the boyfriend fled the hospital shortly after doctors pronounced Esther dead and has since remained unreachable.

Confirming the incident, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police had launched a full investigation into the matter.

“The corpse has been deposited for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Adeh said.
