Guardiola Confirms Haaland’s Commitment Amid Real Madrid Rumours

Date:

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation over Erling Haaland’s future, affirming the striker’s commitment to his contract.

Speaking on Monday, Guardiola told reporters, “I think Erling is not stupid enough to sign a long contract he would not like to accomplish. That’s for sure. But with football, who knows what is going to happen next time? Nobody knows!”

The comments follow renewed reports linking Haaland to Real Madrid, despite the Norwegian having signed a long-term deal with City in 2022. His contract reportedly runs until 2027.

Since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has been exceptional, playing a pivotal role in the club’s historic treble during the 2022/23 season and setting the Premier League single-season goal record.

The striker’s performances have established him as one of the most sought-after players in world football, drawing attention from top clubs across Europe.

Haaland’s scoring prowess continued on Sunday as he helped Manchester City secure a hard-fought away victory against Brentford.

Guardiola’s remarks appear aimed at reassuring fans and curbing transfer rumours, highlighting Haaland’s professionalism and focus on fulfilling his current contract.

The City manager emphasized the unpredictable nature of football, acknowledging that future developments can never be fully anticipated.

Manchester City remains intent on maintaining stability while relying on Haaland’s goal-scoring abilities to drive the team’s domestic and European ambitions.

Haaland’s impact on the squad underscores his importance to Guardiola’s long-term plans at the Etihad Stadium.
