Kidnapping: Forget what you read on social media, FPPRO tells Nigerians to ignore reports
Despite the rise in the rate of murder and kidnapping in the country which has pised seeious threats on the minds of the entire citizenry, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, addressed the public in an interview.
He spoke on Thursday while featuring on Channels Television. The Force PRO asserted that there is no rise in kidnapping incidents in the southwestern part of the country.
Adejobi attributed the cause of the kidnappings to topography and waterways.
He said: “In most cases, it is the topography of the areas. The kidnapping in Lagos was actually triggered due to the waterways, do you know that the waterway from Lagos leads to Delta, leads to Portharcourt, leads to Bayelsa. It is the same waterway.”
The FPRO who also reiterated on his X page said that most of the kidnapping cases reported online were either staged or faked.
He wrote, “Most of the kidnapping cases we read online are not real. They are either staged and faked. We analyse security situations based on empirical facts and figures.
“We will have another forum or many other organised to discuss these concepts of kidnapping, abduction, one change, armed robbery, organised crimes, and arranged assassination.
“These are different concepts or crimes that we need to understand, and the psychology of the perpetrators. No sentiment, but realities.
“Open your mind to discussions and explanations of experts and security operatives for better understanding.”
However, ROYAL NEWS reports that while Nigerians were still perturbed about the abduction of pupils, teachers and driver of a private school in a Ekiti State, another unfortunate incidence of the killings of a traditional ruler, the Olukoro of Koro-Ekiti, in Kwara State, Gen. Segun Aremu (rtd) dominated the news space on Friday.
The incidence occurred at the Olukoro’s Palace on Thursday night while the deceased’s wife and two others were kidnapped.
