Soludo’s Grassroots Gospel—Too Late or Just in Time?

Date:

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has declared that effective governance must begin at the grassroots level, where the real needs of the people reside.

Speaking during his tour of several markets in Anaocha Local Government Area ahead of the November 8 governorship election, Soludo emphasized that his administration is committed to inclusive governance through direct engagement with citizens.

“Effective governance must begin at the grassroots level, working collaboratively with local leaders and citizens to create lasting change,” the governor said.

He visited markets in Aguluzuigbo, Ichida, Obeledu, and Nimo, where he interacted with traders and community members. The consultations, he explained, were part of efforts to understand their needs and priorities better.

The governor, who is seeking re-election under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), stated that the party is already on the right track in developing various sectors of the state.

Soludo reiterated his administration’s priorities of improving market infrastructure, expanding access to small-business loans, and creating an enabling environment for trade and enterprise.

He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across Anaocha, assuring the people that his government is committed to transparency and openness to dialogue.

“Together, we will ensure that the voices of our people are not just heard, but acted upon,” Soludo declared. “Our strength lies in our unity, and there’s nothing we cannot achieve if we work together.”

His grassroots engagements, however, have drawn mixed reactions online, with critics questioning the timing and sincerity of the visits, especially when it’s close to the elections.
