Mrs. Ngozi Ogbodo, widow of a 63-year-old retired soldier, Mr. Christopher Ogbodo, has urged the police to speed up investigations into her husband’s brutal killing at his workplace in Igboke Nike, along the Nsukka–Ugwogo Nike Road, Enugu.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Mrs. Ogbodo said her husband, who worked as a security guard at a petrol station under construction, was murdered on July 1. She expressed frustration over the slow pace of the probe and the failure to question key figures, including the station manager and the facility’s owner.

She alleged that despite the arrest of a labourer working on the site, the main suspects were still “walking freely,” and called for the arrest of everyone present at the location on the day of the murder. She also appealed for the release of her husband’s corpse for burial.

“This is about human life, not animals. Even domestic animals have owners. The police must bring those involved to justice, no matter whose ox is gored,” she said.

The case is being handled by the State CID Homicide Department, but efforts to reach Police Public Relations Officer SP Daniel Ndukwe for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
