The Ilorin Emirate Central Jum’mat Mosque Management Committee is delighted to announce the successful commencement of installation of a multi-million Naira ultramodern solar-powered mini-grid system, facilitated by the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha for the use of the mosque, some parts of the palace and the benefit of the generality of Muslim Ummah.
This facilitation follows an earlier request made by the Mosque Management Committee during its annual BOT meeting sometimes last year. True to his word, the Senator has delivered on his pledge, further demonstrating his commitment to the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.
With this milestone, the mosque will now operate almost fully on clean and renewable energy (with the exception of the ACs), drastically reducing its monthly energy costs. More importantly, the uninterrupted power supply will, for the first time, allow the mosque to remain illuminated throughout the day and night — a transformation that will enable residents, visitors, and tourists to behold the majestic beauty of this historic edifice in its full glory.
It is noteworthy that this development comes at a time the mosque has also received over ₦1 billion pledge from a benevolent donor for the construction of a 250-bed ultramodern hostel at the University of Ilorin.
Together, these landmark projects align seamlessly with the vision of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, for a self-sustaining Central Mosque — a mosque that does not only serve as a sanctuary of worship but also as a beacon of innovation, resilience, and unity.
This is a legacy etched forever in the annals of the Ilorin Central Mosque and the Ilorin Emirate. It is a legacy that generations yet unborn will look upon with pride, as proof that faith and foresight can combine to lift a community onto a higher pedestal.
