As the world gathered to commemorate the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has called for deep reflection and renewal of faith by Muslim Ummah.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari in a goodwill message issued by his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, said: “As we mark Maulid Nabiyyi 1447 AH, let’s us be reminded of the timeless values of compassion, justice, and peace that our noble Prophet embodied.”
He added that Mawlid Nabiyyi is an occasion for Muslims around the world to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and strive to emulate his exemplary characters.
The traditional ruler also urged Mosques and Islamic centers in Ilorin Emirate and beyond to continue to instil moral values, tolerance, perseverance and discipline in the hearts of their adherents in order to make the society a better place for all and sundry.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari emphasized on encouragement of interfaith dialogue and cultural exchange to further promote mutual understanding and respect for mankind at all levels.
He therefore reminded Muslims to engage in acts of charity and community service, reflecting the Prophet’s emphasis on compassion, social responsibility, commitment to upholding the values of justice, equality, and compassion that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) represent.
