President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian legal practitioner Tolu Obamuroh on his promotion to Partner at White & Case LLP, a leading global law firm headquartered in New York.
Obamuroh will assume his new role in the firm’s International Arbitration Practice in Paris, effective January 1, 2026. His elevation makes him one of only three new partners globally in that practice area and the only Nigerian-qualified lawyer in this year’s partner class.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, President Tinubu described the appointment as a remarkable achievement that highlights Nigeria’s growing influence on the global professional stage.
“President Tinubu commends this outstanding achievement as a reflection of Nigerian competence, resilience, and global excellence,” the statement read. “Tolu’s success represents the best of the country’s new generation of professionals who continue to distinguish themselves worldwide.”
The President noted that Obamuroh’s accomplishment embodies the ideals of his administration’s Renewed Hope agenda — a vision of a Nigeria whose citizens excel globally through merit, integrity, and excellence.
Obamuroh is widely recognised for his expertise in international arbitration, having represented sovereign states and major corporations in complex, high-value disputes, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
He also serves as a trusted adviser to the Federal Government on international legal matters under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
Tinubu extended his felicitations to Obamuroh’s family, friends, and colleagues, describing the achievement as a source of national pride.
He further encouraged young Nigerians to draw inspiration from Obamuroh’s “journey of dedication, discipline, and service.”
