Maxwell Okpara, legal counsel to Dr. Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries (also known as Grace Nation Liberation City), has demanded an end to cyber harassment, defamation, and false claims regarding his client.
Okpara issued the warning on Wednesday, addressing self-proclaimed activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and a young woman identifying herself as Miss Chi, who claims to be Pastor Okafor’s daughter.
The lawyer called for an immediate retraction of all false statements, an apology published in two national newspapers, removal of online content associating Okafor with claims of paternity or abandonment, and cessation of any further misrepresentation.
He also demanded that Miss Chi and her sibling submit to a DNA test at a mutually agreed, reputable facility, citing the absence of a verified DNA certificate supporting her claims.
Okpara stressed that failure to comply would compel his client to pursue legal action to safeguard his reputation, integrity, and ministry.
According to Okpara, the allegations made by Miss Chi are false, malicious, and intended to mislead the public. He noted that Okafor has historically responded to such claims with patience, but the continued spread of misinformation necessitated this official clarification.
He outlined that years ago, Okafor had been approached by a woman claiming pregnancy. While he initially assumed responsibility, DNA tests later confirmed that neither of the children was biologically related to him.
Despite the negative test results, Okafor continued to assist the children with education and career support in Canada and the United Kingdom, a gesture Okpara said should not be misconstrued as acknowledgment of paternity.
The lawyer described prior social media posts and publications suggesting abandonment as defamatory and misleading, emphasizing that these acts constitute cyberbullying and are damaging to Okafor’s public image and ministry.
Okpara concluded that all parties involved must retract false claims, remove misleading content, and adhere to legal requests, warning that further noncompliance will result in full legal action.
