Rufai Oseni Warns Tinubu Over Planned Fubara Impeachment

Date:

Arise Television presenter, Rufai Oseni, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against allowing the planned impeachment of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to proceed.

Oseni said the impeachment move would amount to an indictment of Tinubu’s ability to protect governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a post on his Facebook page, the journalist argued that claims by some government officials that the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State was meant to protect Fubara had been undermined by the impeachment notice.

According to him, the ongoing impeachment process shows that the state of emergency has failed to restore peace or secure a political settlement in the state.

Oseni also suggested that the political struggle appears to be tilting in favour of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as currently having the upper hand in the dispute.

He questioned whether President Tinubu would be able to intervene decisively to stop the impeachment and whether key institutions, including the judiciary, would allow the process to continue.

Oseni further raised concerns about the broader political implications of the crisis, including the possibility of Wike working against the APC leadership or aligning with the opposition, noting that the outcome remains uncertain.
