PDP In Ilorin Central Pledges Continued Support For Saraki

Date:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin Central Constituency has reaffirmed its loyalty to former Senate President and ex-Kwara State Governor, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, amid reports of defections to the ruling party in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed on Monday by the Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Nuhu Magaji, and Hon. Abdulkadir Tunde, on behalf of party members in Ilorin Central Constituency.

The leaders of the constituency said PDP remains united and determined to reclaim political power in Kwara State at the 2027 general elections.

The party acknowledged recent defections by some politicians to the ruling party but described the development as isolated and incapable of weakening the PDP’s structure in the constituency.

The statement praised Dr. Saraki for publicly reaffirming his commitment to the PDP, describing his stance as a source of confidence and stability for party members across the state.

Addressing rumours that a former National Assembly aspirant from the constituency may defect, the PDP leaders said such a move, if it occurs, would be a personal decision that does not reflect the position of the constituency or the party’s grassroots strength.

They stressed that loyalty to the PDP and its leadership remains “total and indivisible,” adding that the party’s cohesion is driven by shared values rather than individual ambitions.

The statement also commended senior party leaders in the constituency, including Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, for providing consistent guidance and direction to members.

According to the PDP, the constituency is firmly positioned behind Dr Saraki’s leadership and remains focused on building momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
