Bandits Abduct Six During Early Morning Raid in Sokoto Village

Date:

Six residents of Gazau Village, Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto State, were abducted during an early morning attack on Monday, a source told newsmen.

According to the source, attackers stormed the village at around 1:00 a.m., initially abducting 13 people—12 women and one man—from multiple homes. The assailants later stopped at Dan Adama Forest, where they asked captives to identify themselves and released one person for every two individuals from the same household.

Ultimately, six people were taken to the bandits’ hideout, while seven others were released. The abducted individuals were identified as Asabe Zakariya, Inno Ibrahim, Inno Musa, Umma Yusuf, Safina Abdullahi, and Saminu Jijji.

The source added that the bandits threatened to continue daily attacks unless villagers sought amnesty from them.

Efforts to reach the Isa LGA chairman, Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, and the Sokoto State Police Command spokesman, DSP Ahmad Rufai, for comment were unsuccessful, as their phone lines were unreachable.
