An Ex-Technical Adviser to Niger Tornadoes Club, Malam Garba Attahiru-Madami has said that the Super Eagles need to change their playing tactics in their encounter with the South Africa team on Wednesday.
Madami, who is the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kwara, gave the advice in an interview with journalists in Ilorin.
He said whoever emerged victorious in the quarter final match has a bright chance of lifting the continental cup at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
“This match that we are going to play against South Africa tomorrow will be decided based on the tactics of the team.
“If Nigeria should win that match, we have to tighten up our defense, we have to play compact defense,” the REC added.
Madami however expressed concern over Eagles defense, saying; “Our defense is not well coordinated.”
“Our defense is loose, we have to play compact defense, we have to play mass attack, mass defense, luckily we are most skillful, physically stronger, we have to use that to our advantage.
“We have the best mid field, our strikers are doing well but we do not have good defense. I don’t have anything against our goal keeper, our problem is the defense,” he said.
Madami commended South Africa’s performances in the matches they have played so far.
“South Africa made me so proud, they play football with passion, with commitment, I have not seen that in any team.
South Africa deserves to beat Egypt, in fact the Egyptian goal keeper safe down in the first half to clean three clear goals.
“They played with passion, with commitment, no fear, with courage in front of 75, 000 spectators in Cairo, it is not easy.
“People may say we are going to tame South Africa, you know why; they only site psychology, psychological fear. I think that fear would be overcome,” Madami said.
