The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has voiced support for a legal framework that would require the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit election results electronically during the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi emphasized that electronic result transmission is crucial for transparency and safeguarding the integrity of voters’ choices.
“If a law mandating INEC to transmit results electronically strengthens transparency in our elections, the ADC will fully support it,” Abdullahi said.
He further highlighted that credible elections form the cornerstone of democracy and stressed the importance of public confidence that votes are accurately counted.
“Ensuring that votes genuinely count is not only important but essential for the survival of democracy in Nigeria,” Abdullahi added.
