Bio-Safety amendment Act: senator okays response from stakeholders

Date:

Chukwuma Frank Ibezim

Following the rejection of the proposed amendment Bill on National Bio-Safety Management Agency Act by stakeholders during a public hearing, the Senator representing Imo North, Senator Chukwuma Frank Ibezim, has supported the opinion of the stakeholders and Law makers who were present at the meeting.

speaking to some journalists after the meeting on Wednesday in Abuja, Ibezim expressed total surprise over the rejection of the proposed Legislation in separate submission from almost all the stakeholders in the bio-safety sectors, adding that there were no supporters, even the sponsors of the bill.

He explained that amending the bill will create a whole lot of confusion in the system, “we stand for whatever is for the interest of the country”.

Meanwhile, speaking about his constituency projects, he said that executing a project is not just the problem but executing it properly for the betterment of the community and the country at large is the major thing.

“I have executed many projects in my constituency for the interest of the people, like Installation of street lights, women empowerment, skills training and lots of them.

“when it comes to execution of projects, we capture the vital needs of the community and we involved those that are necessary, like the local government chairmen before we carry out any project.

“to make it easy and to relate with my people very well, I established over 6 constituency offices just to make sure that the projects are executed properly and managed.”He said.
