President Buhari swears-in 6 new INEC commissioners
President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, to consult and bring up a memorandum to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to link Lekki Deep Sea Port facility with the railway network.

Buhari gave the directive on Tuesday in Lagos after inspecting the rate of work done at the first Deep Sea Port in Nigeria located in Lagos Free Zone, 65Km east of Lagos, and praised the efforts of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, towards making the Lekki Deep Sea Port a reality.

In the course of inspection, the President received firm assurances that the port, which has a concession period of 45 years and sits in a land area of 90 hectares, will be completed on schedule by September.

Earlier in an interview with journalist, the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi had said linking the port to the rail, depends on availability of fund for the project.

“We don’t have money. If they give us money, we will link it to the rail. When money is available, we will build the rail.”

Amaechi further expressed conviction that work will commence on the Bonny Deep Seaport before the end of President Buhari led administration.

” I am convinced that we will commence work on Bonny deep seaport before we leave office.

“This seaport is a private investment and they have not said they don’t have money. You should be asking about money in terms of Bonny seaport where the government may be interested in putting money.” Amaechi said.
