Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy, has etched his name even deeper into global music history by becoming the African artist with the highest number of entries on the prestigious US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The feat comes after his collaboration with American rapper Gunna, ‘WGFT’, from Gunna’s newly released album The Last Wun, debuted at No. 96 on this week’s Hot 100 chart. The entry marks Burna Boy’s seventh appearance on the chart — more than any other African artist.
Beyond the record-breaking milestone, the Last Last crooner has also achieved another remarkable feat: he is the first African artist to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive years (2021 through 2025).
Burna Boy first made his Hot 100 debut in 2021 with Loved By You, a collaboration with Canadian pop icon Justin Bieber. He followed up with his first solo entry in 2022 with the smash hit Last Last, which peaked at No. 44 and became a global anthem.
The self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ has since continued to dominate international charts, also holding the record for the most entries by an African artist on the UK Singles Chart (26) and the Canadian Hot 100 (11).
With this new milestone, Burna Boy further cements his place as one of the most successful African artists on the global stage, continuing to bridge Afrobeats with mainstream international music.
