Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has described tonight’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Benin Republic as the most important game of his managerial career.
The Malian tactician, who is seeking to lead Nigeria back to the World Cup, said he is both excited and prepared for the high-stakes encounter.
Nigeria will face their West African neighbours at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday evening, knowing that only a victory will keep their qualification hopes alive.
Speaking at Monday’s pre-match press conference, Chelle admitted the magnitude of the fixture but maintained a positive outlook.
“For me, as a coach, it’s maybe the most important game of my career,” Chelle said. “I’m happy, I’m excited — sometimes a little nervous — but I like the pressure.”
The crucial showdown is scheduled to kick off at 5pm Nigerian time.
