El-Rufai Denies Comments On 2027 Presidency

Date:

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed reports claiming he stated which region should produce Nigeria’s president in the 2027 general election, describing the reports as false and misleading.

In a statement posted on his verified X account on Monday, El-Rufai said he never made such comments in any speech, interview, or social media post.

He said the claim, which has circulated widely online, should not be attributed to him, stressing that he communicates his views only through his verified social media platforms and recognised media engagements.

The former governor also warned against attributing opinion articles written by others to him simply because he shared them on his social media pages.

According to him, sharing an article does not amount to endorsing or owning the views expressed by its author.

“My attention has been drawn to a trending fake news item alleging that I specified which region of the country should produce the president in 2027,” he said.

“This is an untrue claim despite its virality. I did not say so in any of my speeches, interviews, or social media posts. I have my own verifiable platforms where I speak my mind and take responsibility for my opinions,” El-Rufai added.
