The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has assured the leadership of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) of his support towards the success of the Union’s upcoming 60th anniversary conference scheduled for December, 2025.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari gave this assurance on Monday while receiving the National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik and his team in his palace.
The Emir commended the Union for its numerous contributions towards the continuous peace and progress of the community over the years, saying that the Union remains the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the people of the Emirate.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, who described the Union’s National President as a humble and hardworking patriot, called on the people of the Emirate to continue to support the Union to enable it discharge its duties to the fullest.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Abdulmalik said that he and his team were at the palace to brief the Emir on the Union’s preparations for its 60th annual national conference.
He explained that this year’s edition would be quite different because it would be the 60th as 25 distinguished individuals, including the Emir and the 8th Emir of Ilorin, Shaykh Abdulkadir Shuaib Dan-Bawa, who reigned between 1919 and 1959, would be inducted into the prestigeous Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame.
Alhaji Abdulmalik thanked the Emir for his consistent fatherly support, counsels and prayers as he promised that the Union would continue to work for the people of the Emirate.
