Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has expressed concern over Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare, suggesting the Nigerian player is struggling with confidence.
Adebayor made the comments while speaking to Premier League Productions following Arokodare’s missed penalty in Wolves’ 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Late in the first half, Arokodare had the chance to equalize but took a weak shot to the bottom right corner, which was easily saved by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Adebayor noted that a player in front of the defender either gets fouled or has a chance to finish the ball, emphasizing that Arokodare showed uncertainty in the moment.
He concluded that Arokodare’s lack of confidence affected his decision-making, adding, “You cannot take a penalty like that in this kind of game.”
