FG Engages Staleholders On Aircraft Insurance, Balanced Local Content Requirements

The Federal Government has disclosed that measures are in place to protect the Nigerian local aviation industry in the process of ensuring it meet the demands of international lessors and financiers who always insists risks be based in the international market

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, stated this at a stakeholder engagement meeting on insurance with the theme : Creating a new partnership between Nigerian Issuarance Association and Airline Operators of Nigeria in Abuja.

According to Keyamo, the stakeholders engagement is a precursor to the international intention ahead of the meeting of Aircrafts lessors, and financiers scheduled to take place in Dublin in January 2025, adding that the president is awaiting the outcome of the meeting.

“This is something that the president is very concerned about. The government places great importance on this issue, and the vice president was the one. The president is waiting for the outcome of this meeting.

“The world is taking Nigeria very seriously now. There is no better time for us to meet to have Nigeria position on Aircraft insurance before we go to Dubli¹n. It is important that we have the Nigerian position,” said Keyamo.

Challenging every other sectors of the economy, Keyamo stressed the need for rebranding the country for other countries of the world to understand what Nigeria and her citizens are capable of.

“It is part of the rebranding of the Nigeria image to the world and every sector in Nigeria has the duty to rebrand and let the world understand how we are and what we are capable of,” said the Minister.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, in her remarks noted that the stakeholders engagement is to ensure that Nigeria is able to plan on a consensus to see whatnit can deliver within the long term and short term.

“We can only imagine the value of the economy is going to be significant and each of the two sectors is going to grow significantly. So the word for today is compromise it’s a long-term mission, and the Nigerian growth,” said Oduwole.
