Ganduje Out, Kwankwaso In? Dalori Takes Over APC as Power Games Begin

Date:

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially entered stormy waters.

Days after Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje resigned as National Chairman under the veil of “health reasons,” Ali Bukar Dalori, Deputy Chairman (North), has stepped in as Acting National Chairman, presiding over a tense National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

But the real story, insiders say, isn’t about who is taking over — it’s about who forced Ganduje out.

Speculation is rife that Ganduje’s exit may have been a strategic sacrifice to clear the path for a controversial political rapprochement: the alleged return of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Ganduje’s archrival and the man he once publicly labelled untrustworthy.

“Call it poetic betrayal,” a senior APC chieftain said under anonymity. “Ganduje was thrown under the bus to make room for a man he spent years fighting. The irony is brutal.”

The ongoing NWC meeting, now under Dalori’s leadership, is expected to chart the new direction of a party battling internal decay, suspicion, and shifting loyalties ahead of the 2027 elections.

Many believe this “health excuse” is the same worn-out script parties use when power needs to change hands quietly but contentiously. If Kwankwaso indeed crosses over to the APC, it would signal a northern political realignment of historic proportions — and one that could leave old allies out in the cold.

Meanwhile, Dalori’s calm demeanor in the spotlight masks the firestorm brewing behind closed doors, where reconciliation, revenge, and realignment are being negotiated in whispers.

The APC may be keeping a straight face in public, but behind the curtains, the knives are already out — and 2027 just got even messier.
