Gen. Umaru Mohammed bags 7yrs jailterm for stealing

Maj. Gen. Umaru Mohammed, the former Group Managing Director, Nigerian Army Properties Limited, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for stealing funds.

Gen. Mohammed was convicted by the Nigerian Army Special Court-martial sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

The court also ordered him to pay back $2,178,900 and N1.65bn to the Army properties and NAPL, ROYAL NEWS reports.

Mohammed was found guilty of 14 out of 18 charges bordering on forgery, misappropriation of funds, and conspiracy.

The eight-man panel led by Maj.-Gen. James Myam explained that the prosecution counsels called 24 witnesses, while the defendant called two witnesses.
