Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the immediate disbursement of N5.25 million for the treatment of 13 students from the state who were injured in a recent road accident in Kebbi State.
The students, all enrolled at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), were involved in a car crash along the Yauri-Sokoto Expressway while returning to campus. The accident claimed the life of the vehicle’s driver and left several of the students seriously injured.
According to a statement from the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Hon. Wasiu Onidugbe, eight of the students sustained bone fractures requiring emergency surgeries, while five others are receiving various levels of medical care at the UDUS Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.
In response to the situation, Governor AbdulRazaq approved the immediate release of funds to cover the cost of tests, scans, surgeries, and other medical procedures already outlined by the hospital. The statement emphasized the Governor’s swift intervention to ensure the students receive adequate care without delay.
Governor AbdulRazaq also extended his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured students through his aide, offering prayers for their full recuperation.
