Iyanya Shares Personal Struggle Over Celibacy

Date:

Popular Nigerian singer Iyanya has opened up about his ongoing struggle with staying celibate, admitting that he often finds it difficult to maintain consistency, especially when he meets women he finds attractive. He made the disclosure during a candid interview on the Afropolitan podcast.

The 39-year-old artiste explained that his attempts at celibacy tend to fluctuate, noting that moments of weakness are often followed by regret. According to him, while he sometimes breaks his resolve, he later finds himself longing for the discipline and peace that celibacy brings.

Iyanya said the experience has made him more self-aware and reflective about his emotional state, stressing that he is still in a healing phase. He added that this personal journey has influenced how he approaches relationships and intimacy.

The singer also revealed that marriage is not on his mind at the moment, as he does not feel mentally ready to make such a commitment. He said honesty has become central to how he relates with women, helping him avoid misunderstandings and emotional harm.

Reflecting on his growth, Iyanya noted that unlike in his younger years, he now avoids making promises or saying things just to please others. He said being transparent about his emotional readiness has helped him maintain healthier interactions and personal boundaries.
