The Kwara State Government has officially handed over newly constructed and renovated school infrastructure across several communities, reinforcing its commitment to improving the learning environment in public schools.
Speaking at the handover ceremony held Tuesday at ECWA Secondary School, Wokowomu in Omu-Aran, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, emphasized the government’s dedication to upgrading education infrastructure. He handed over two renovated classroom blocks equipped with furniture, stating that a conducive learning environment is essential to effective education.
“No meaningful learning can take place in a dilapidated setting. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration is determined to provide students with facilities that foster academic growth,” he said.
Additional facilities were handed over at other schools, including a new classroom block, office space, toilet facilities, and a motorised borehole at Olokuta Senior Secondary School, Anfeyinoja. Mount Carmel Junior Secondary School in Ilorin received three new classrooms, an office, toilet facilities, and a borehole.
At Ansarul-Islam Secondary School, Osi, the government completed an examination hall, toilet facilities, and a motorised borehole. Community Secondary School, Olokonla, and Senior Secondary School, Gbagba, also received newly built examination halls and supporting facilities.
Dr. Olohungbebe urged school administrators and staff to ensure proper usage and maintenance of the infrastructure, noting that the investment represents the government’s long-term vision for educational development in the state.
Community leaders, including the Mogaji of Anfeyinoja, Alhaji Usman Jimoh, and Dr. Samuel Ogundele Olayemi of ECWA School, praised the AbdulRazaq administration’s commitment to revitalizing public education and offered prayers for its continued success.
School principals commended the improvements, saying the new facilities have boosted morale and positively impacted teaching and learning. The Head Girl of Olokuta Secondary School, Miss Omotosho Abibat, speaking on behalf of students, said the upgrades would significantly enhance educational outcomes.
