Kwara Transport Commissioner Hails 2025 Gains, Urges Professionalism

The Kwara State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, has urged management and staff of the Ministry of Transportation to sustain professionalism and build on the achievements recorded in 2025 to ensure a safer and more efficient transport system in the state.

The charge was delivered during the ministry’s end-of-year meeting and prayer session held at its headquarters in Ilorin. The event provided an opportunity to review performance, identify operational gaps and outline areas for improvement.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Salau Kabir Abdullahi, the commissioner commended staff for their dedication, noting that their individual and collective efforts were instrumental to the ministry’s successes, despite being newly established.

Hon. Korasabi also praised the ministry’s management team for its cooperation and resilience, describing their work as aligned with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s transformation agenda. He attributed the ministry’s progress to the governor’s leadership and support, offering prayers for the success of his administration.

Highlighting key achievements, the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mallam Tajudeen Onikoko, reported improvements in traffic management, smoother movement for commuters and pedestrians, and a reduction in road accidents. He also cited the distribution of 3,500 life jackets in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to enhance safety in riverine areas.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency, Mallam Oba Sulaiman Abdullahi, and the Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr. Isiaka Ayuba, commended the commitment of their personnel and called for increased funding, recruitment and training to expand operations across the state.

The meeting featured a valedictory prayer and presentation for a retired staff member, Alhaja Bakare Nusirat Lola, alongside interactive sessions with staff.
