Naira scarcity: CBN promises to make cash available for elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has said that scarcity of money and fuel can not stop the conduct of 25th of February (this Saturday)Presidential and 11th March elections in Nigeria.

Also, INEC had warned the hoodlums that are planning to forment trouble to think twice because they will ever regret their actions.

The resident electoral commission of Oyo State, Dr. Adeniran Rahmon Tella stated this on Tuesday at the Guest Forum organised by members of the Corredpondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Oyo State chapter at their office in Mokola , Ibadan..

Dr Tella who was accompanied by some of the principal offices of the commission noted that his commission had made arrangements with the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN, in respect of cash ,declaring, “the Central Bank had promised to make cash available for us at INEC for the prosecution of the forthcoming elections. We are not going to have problem in paying our staff and adhoc staff base on this agreement by the special grace of God.”.

On security, Dr. Tella emphasized” we have trained our military personnel, I mean,the security personnel that are going to work with us for the elections, through series of workshops and seminars ,so ,we advise the hoodlums and higher thugs to stay away from Oyo State and our pooling boots through out the Country, anybody arrested shall ever regret his or her actions.””

Dr .Tella declared that the commission had made arrangements with the Transport Service Provider for the easy transportation of the personnel and the electoral materials to the respectful locations across Nigeria, noted that “already nonsensitive materials have been sent to the respectful Local Government whereas the sensitive materials shall be sent by Friday or early morning of Saturday.”
