Nigeria to Roll Out 4,000MW Renewable Manufacturing Capacity Nationwide

Date:

The Nigerian government has unveiled plans to establish a 4,000-megawatt renewable energy manufacturing capacity across participating states, in a bid to strengthen local power production and foster value-chain development.

The announcement came in a communique issued following the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF), which was held in Abuja on October 14–15, 2025, and chaired by Vice President Kasim Shettima.

According to the communique, the initiative forms part of the Nigeria First policy in the power sector and is being spearheaded by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The goal is to achieve 50 percent local content within three years, ensuring that the development of renewable energy infrastructure also boosts domestic manufacturing and expertise.

“This partnership aims to deliver 4,000 MW of renewable energy manufacturing capacity to catalyse value-chain development across participating states,” the statement said.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to renewable energy expansion and signals opportunities for state-level industrial growth and investment in the sector.
