Nollywood Mourns as Comic Star Okemesi Passes On

Popular Nigerian comic actor BamideleTope Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, has died after a brief illness. He reportedly passed away at about 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at a hospital where he had been receiving treatment.

According to reports, the actor slipped into a coma for several hours following complications allegedly linked to medication administered during his treatment. Medical personnel later pronounced him dead.

News of his passing was confirmed by fellow actor Tony Montana Jeff in a video shared on Instagram. In the emotional announcement, Jeff said doctors confirmed Okemesi’s death at exactly 11:50 a.m., adding that he was speaking on behalf of the bereaved family.

Jeff further disclosed that the late actor’s remains had been deposited in a mortuary, while details of funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.

Okemesi was widely admired for his comic roles and vibrant on-screen presence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Tributes have since poured in from fans and colleagues on social media, celebrating his humour and contributions to Nollywood.
