Our Bond Is Stronger Than APC’s Structure” Datti Tackles Rumour Peddlers

Date:

Datti Baba-Ahmed, former Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, has debunked claims of a rift between him and his 2023 running mate, Peter Obi, stating unequivocally that their alliance remains intact ahead of the 2027 presidential race.

In a trending video on X, Datti addressed the swirling rumours with firm clarity.

“You’re asking if there’s a crack? There’s no crack. And by the grace of God Almighty, there will never be a crack.
It’s easier to break the head of APC than to crack the bond between us,” he declared.

Datti emphasized his unwavering commitment to the Labour Party — the platform that propelled both him and Obi into national spotlight in the last election.

“As a loyal member of a party that achieved what no other has in Nigeria’s political history, I see no reason to abandon it,” he added.

He also distanced himself from coalition speculations, stating that while he and Obi may have attended strategic meetings with other parties, they remain firmly within the Labour Party.

“A coalition is not a political party. Obi is still a member of LP, and so am I.”

In what appeared to be a peace-building move, Datti expressed his intention to unite aggrieved factions within the party.

“My focus is on reconciliation, not ambition. That’s what loyal, unselfish party members do.”

His remarks came shortly after a meeting with LP’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, who later confirmed that Datti has now declared his intention to run for president in 2027 under the Labour Party banner.
