Peter Obi Links AMAC Election to 2027 Presidential Ambition

Date:

Abuja – Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has tied the upcoming Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election to his 2027 presidential ambitions. Speaking at a campaign event for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Obi told supporters that their backing at the grassroots level is critical to his national political journey.

“You see this coming election, support us in AMAC; it will help me. Your support in AMAC is critical to our journey,” Obi said, adding that he remains firmly focused on contesting the presidency.

Since joining the ADC, Obi’s supporters, particularly members of the Obidient movement, have pushed for him to be the party’s presidential flagbearer, sparking early internal discussions.

In response, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi urged caution, calling for unity and discouraging inflammatory rhetoric as the party navigates early alignments ahead of 2027.

Obi has reiterated that if elected, he will not spend “a day beyond four years in office.”
