Police arrest 5 suspected cultists, drug barons in Ekiti

The suspects are Adewumi Gboyega, Temitope Oyeyemi, Kazeem Ayomide, Adewumi Praise and Olayinka Emmanuel.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ekiti State command, ASP Sunday Abutu, in a statement yesterday, said on February 18, at about 02:30 hours.

Abutu, said the command received a credible tip off that a group of suspected cultists were sighted in a hotel located in Ikere local government.

According to Abutu, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, were able to arrest the suspects at the hotel in the town.

The PPRO added that items found in their possession and recovered includes 3 raps if suspected Arizona hemp, 50 raps of suspected cocaine, 15 packs of suspected loud hemp, 20 raps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, 10 gas lighters, 1 sharp knife and a cash of N76,900.

Abutu pointed out that during interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed to be illicit drug dealers.

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr. Tunde Mobayo, promised that the command will not relent in its efforts to cripple the activities of criminals and criminalities in the state.

Mobayo, commended members of the public for their cooperation and support in providing timely and useful information to the police to arrest criminals in the society.
