Six passengers have died, and 12 others sustained injuries in a road accident along the Okolowo–Jebba expressway in Kwara State.
The incident, reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Friday, occurred around 6 a.m. on Thursday near the Danjuma Bakery area. A Toyota Hummer bus carrying 18 passengers collided with a stationary truck along the highway.
“The bus, which was travelling from Lagos to Katsina, reportedly rammed into the parked truck. The collision led to six passengers dying on the spot, while 12 others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Makama stated.
The injured were rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Oke-Oyi for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue.
The truck involved was driven by Kamarudeen Abdullahi, a resident of Jos North Local Government Area in Plateau State.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
