Tension in Osun as PDP, APC Clash Over Pre-Primary Crisis

Date:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against resorting to violence and reckless statements ahead of its forthcoming primary election.

The PDP expressed concern that the internal crisis rocking the APC is escalating into physical confrontations and public unrest, describing the situation as dangerous and capable of threatening peace in the state.

Speaking in Osogbo, the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, said the development reflects a total breakdown of leadership and discipline within the opposition party.

Bisi warned that the ongoing conflict within the APC could destabilize Osun if not swiftly addressed, urging President Bola Tinubu, as the party’s national leader, to intervene before the situation worsens.

“What is happening within the Osun APC today is not about democracy or service; it is a battle of desperation among politicians who have lost every sense of restraint and responsibility,” Bisi said.

“Their public conduct has become a direct threat to the peace and stability of our dear state. Before they turn Osun into a battlefield over internal ambitions, we call on President Tinubu to urgently call his Osun chapter to order,” he added.

However, the Osun APC dismissed the PDP’s allegations, describing Bisi’s remarks as baseless and politically motivated.

Reacting, the APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, accused the PDP of projecting its failures onto the opposition.

“Osun PDP is being haunted by the maladministration of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government, which has failed in all areas of governance,” Olabisi said.

“Who else has the characteristic of violence if not the PDP, whose record of violent incidents is numerous? The latest was the arrest of a political thug affiliated with the PDP’s NURTW wing in Osogbo with two guns and several bullets.”

The exchange comes amid rising political tension in Osun ahead of the APC’s internal elections.
