Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared that he was once shortlisted to represent Nigeria in Big Brother Africa but was ultimately dropped before the show began.

Speaking on The Culture League podcast, Egbuson revealed that although he had completed the necessary processes and was asked to prepare for the show, he never received the final call to join the house.

“I was supposed to be on Big Brother Africa some years ago,” he said. “We were about five, and they asked us to pack our bags. I even hired someone to manage my social media, but in the end, they didn’t pick me.”

Despite the disappointment, Egbuson said the experience turned out to be a pivotal moment in his career. That same year, he was cast in MTV Shuga Naija, a role he credits for launching his rise in Nollywood.

He noted that missed opportunities can sometimes redirect individuals to more fulfilling paths. “If I had gone on Big Brother, the hype would probably have faded by now, or I might not have made it in the entertainment industry,” he added.

Egbuson reflected on the broader lesson, explaining that not every missed chance is a loss. “Some of the things I didn’t get would have derailed me from where I am today. I believe where I am now is where I’m meant to be,” he said.

The actor emphasized the importance of resilience in the face of setbacks. “When you lose an opportunity, just count it as a blessing, dust your feet, and keep moving. That’s one hard lesson I’ve learnt.”

Egbuson has since established himself as a prominent figure in Nollywood, with numerous film and television credits to his name.

The actor’s story underscores the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry and the value of patience and persistence in building a lasting career.
