Veteran journalists urge Kwara govt to assist NTA on facility reconstruction

The Kwara State Government has been urged to assist the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ilorin reconstruct parts of its office that were razed by fire Tuesday’s night.

The chairman of the Kwara state chapter of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, stated on Wednesday when he led a delegation of the group to NTA’s office along Fate road, Ilorin on sympathy visit.

He praised the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his concern for the wellbeing of journalists in the state, which he noted prompted him to visit the NTA’s premises at about 12am on Wednesday, few hours after the fire incident occurred.

The NALVEJ chairman however expressed gratitude to God for ensuring that no life was lost to the incident.

Noting that the fire incident might be due to power surge, the NALVEJ chairman enjoined the NTA staff and similar organisations to always put off electrical appliances in their offices after closing hours.

Responding, the General Manager of NTA, Ilorin, Waheed Babatunde Popoola thanked the group for the visit and expressed his delight that they were not deserted during their time of grief.
