“You’re Failing Nigerians While Plotting 2027 Comeback” Atiku Slams Tinubu

Date:

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of meddling in opposition affairs while failing to address Nigeria’s deepening economic and security crisis.

In a fiery statement issued by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku berated the President for using state resources and institutions to destabilize opposition parties, especially the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rather than focusing on governance.

“On a day like this, the President should have apologized to Nigerians, acknowledged his failures, and committed to working for the people,” Atiku declared.

The backlash follows remarks made by Tinubu at the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he took aim at the ADC. Atiku, however, insists that such political posturing only reveals Tinubu’s desperation for a 2027 re-election and his disregard for the daily suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

He further accused the presidency of fueling internal tensions between supporters of himself and Peter Obi within the opposition coalition. “We are fully aware that the presidency manufactured these supposed cracks. Unfortunately for them, their divide-and-conquer strategy has failed. The coalition is more united than ever,” the statement read.

Atiku didn’t hold back on economic issues either, slamming Tinubu for failing to mend a broken economy and ignoring a visible rift between himself and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“It is baffling that the presidency is spending scarce public funds to engineer internal chaos while millions go to bed hungry,” he said.

He also alleged that anti-corruption agencies are being weaponized to blackmail and coerce opposition figures into defecting to the APC. “Tinubu is afraid. He knows the coalition is strong enough to end his rule. Whether he ends up in Bourdillon or Iragbiji, he will be out,” the statement concluded.

Atiku called on the president to quit playing politics and focus on delivering results, reaffirming that the opposition coalition remains committed to providing Nigerians with a credible alternative.
