2017 proposed budget credible – Ekiti Speaker

The Ekiti House of Assembly on Wednesday referred the state’s 2017 Appropriation Bill to its Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

The Speaker of the House, Mr. Kola Oluwawole, commended the governor over the proposal, saying it was inspirational.

He said, “You will discover that the budget touches every area of the state’s well being; the governor has to be appreciated due to the credibility of the budget.

“It is a landmark document, it encompasses all areas, talk of capital expenditure, the environment, education and social welfare.

“I want to thank him for this giant stride.”

Governor Ayo Fayose had on Tuesday presented the fiscal proposal to the lawmakers.

The appropriation bill was referred to the committee after it passed first and second reading on the floor of the House.

The State Pension Bill, 2016 was also read for the first time at plenary on Wednesday.

While deliberating on the appropriation bill, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Dr Samuel Omotoso, spoke of the need to give the bill accelerated passage, describing it as a budget of reality.

Other lawmakers including Fajana Ojo-Ade, Badejo Anifowose and the Deputy Speaker, Mr Segun Adewumi, commended the governor for the prompt presentation of the budget.

They urged other members of the Assembly to ensure speedy passage of the bill.
