A breakdown of the result indicates these results were obtained by only 3,892 candidates out of the total of 12,075 candidates that sat the examination across various centres in Nigeria. Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities are expected to obtain credit in at least five subjects in WASSCE, two of which must English and Mathematics.

According to Olu Adenipekun, Head of the Nigeria National Office, WAEC,  of the total number of candidates that sat the examination, 6,331 were male and 5,744, representing 52 percent and 47.57 percent, respectively.

Adenipekun while announcing the results in Lagos Tuesday said that the results of 548 candidates, representing 4.54 percent of the total candidature for the examination were being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.

“The cases are being investigated and reports of the investigations will be presented to the appropriate Committee of the Council in due course for consideration”, Adenipekun said.
