Nigerian artist Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has called on the nation’s political leaders to improve their governance efforts, citing the increasing hardship faced by citizens.
Spyro made the remarks during a performance at the grand reception held to welcome Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event took place on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Addressing the crowd, the singer praised Governor Eno’s efforts in the state and encouraged other political leaders to emulate his leadership style.
“I heard about the good things the governor is doing. We are proud,” Spyro said. “I hope other leaders here will take a cue from him and do better for us because things are really hard in the country.”
Spyro’s comments struck a chord with many in attendance as he echoed the concerns of ordinary Nigerians dealing with economic and social challenges.
The event was attended by high-profile APC figures, including Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also present were APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several state governors.
In a message delivered on behalf of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima assured Governor Eno that his decision to join the ruling party would be beneficial and that all his expectations would be met.
Senate President Akpabio also hailed the governor’s defection, describing it as a major political milestone and predicting that other South-South states may soon follow suit.
