The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has commenced the training of 126 newly recruited staff under its Leadership Development Academy as part of efforts to strengthen capacity within Nigeria’s primary health care system.

The agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director of Advocacy and Communication, Dr. Ladan Aliyu.

Speaking at the flag-off, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NPHCDA, Dr. Muyi Aina, urged the trainees to embrace self-development, assuring them that the agency would provide the skills and tools necessary to perform effectively and contribute to strengthening primary health care delivery nationwide.

He described the recruitment as a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in creating jobs and revamping the health sector.

“The government, under President Bola Tinubu, has given you a platform to make an impact, serve your country, and advance your careers. But your success depends on the choices you make, the effort you put in, and the values you uphold,” Aina said.

He added that the training aligns with the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and NPHCDA’s blueprint to build a skilled, motivated, and engaged workforce.

Established in 2019, the Leadership Development Academy serves as an in-house system for cultivating leadership and management skills among mid-level staff. So far, it has trained four cohorts of new employees and graduated 55 fellows across two sets.
